Hotelschool practice week 1

Hi everyone,

I was thinking about what to write in the blogpost of today, and my friend suggested me that I wrote something about my experience of the practice module in my school.

As some of you may know, I'm attending the Hotelschool in Leeuwarden. There are four modules in one year, and as a first years you have to do ten weeks of practice. You have to do two weeks of practice at each department. This week it was housekeeping!

When people talk about housekeeping they often think about cleaning rooms, but there is so much more to that! Ofcourse, I had to clean rooms. But there was also a function for cleaning other areas of the hotel and making sure that every department gets their towels. You are always in a team with one first years and a supervisor and there are supervisors who check the room just in case everything is as its supposed to be.

My experience in this department is really nice. There is a really nice atmosphere in the group and everyone helps each other. Although it's very nice, you have to work fast and hard to clean all the rooms as fast as possible. I was doubting if I would like the housekeeping department but I really like it so far. It really shows you what has to be done so that in the future, as a manager or supervisor, you know exactly what the tasks are.

Are you attending a Hotelschool? What are your experiences?

Apple Crumble Pie!

Hi everyone,

I had to share this recipe with you because it was the yummiest thing I've EVER tasted. My friend and I decided to bake an apple crumble pie, just because we felt like it. There is nothing more comforting than baking something warm when it's super cold outside and drink a nice hot chocolate a side of it!

All you need for this recipe is:

-  Koopmans Apple Crumble Mix ( this is for the dough, if you don't have this in your country, feel free to search on google for Apple Crumble Pie dough mix with ingredients which are available in your country.

- 1 egg
- 50 grams of sugar
- Cinnamon as much as you prefer
- 5 apples
- 50 grams of butter
- Whipped cream if you like it on top of your pie

The things you have to do are mixing the butter and the apple crumble mix, you want to dough to be crumbly. Afterwards, you peel all the apples and slice them into small pieces.

When they are all sliced up, you throw them in a bowl and you add the cinnamon and the sugar. While you are slicing the apples, make sure you put the dough in the fridge for at least ten minutes. When the dough is ready, put it in a pie vorm. Cover the bottom with half of the dough and  put all the apples on top of that. With the left over dough, you are covering the apples which is the top of the pie. It has to be in the oven for 45 minutes on 165 degrees in my oven. Every oven has its own settings so my temperature could not be the same for another type of oven.

I snapped some pictures of the whole baking session :):

And TADAAA! A delicious apple crumble pie made by the one and only... Ylli (and her friend ofcourse)!

I hope you all had a nice sunday!
