Hotelschool practice week 1

Hi everyone,

I was thinking about what to write in the blogpost of today, and my friend suggested me that I wrote something about my experience of the practice module in my school.

As some of you may know, I'm attending the Hotelschool in Leeuwarden. There are four modules in one year, and as a first years you have to do ten weeks of practice. You have to do two weeks of practice at each department. This week it was housekeeping!

When people talk about housekeeping they often think about cleaning rooms, but there is so much more to that! Ofcourse, I had to clean rooms. But there was also a function for cleaning other areas of the hotel and making sure that every department gets their towels. You are always in a team with one first years and a supervisor and there are supervisors who check the room just in case everything is as its supposed to be.

My experience in this department is really nice. There is a really nice atmosphere in the group and everyone helps each other. Although it's very nice, you have to work fast and hard to clean all the rooms as fast as possible. I was doubting if I would like the housekeeping department but I really like it so far. It really shows you what has to be done so that in the future, as a manager or supervisor, you know exactly what the tasks are.

Are you attending a Hotelschool? What are your experiences?

Apple Crumble Pie!

Hi everyone,

I had to share this recipe with you because it was the yummiest thing I've EVER tasted. My friend and I decided to bake an apple crumble pie, just because we felt like it. There is nothing more comforting than baking something warm when it's super cold outside and drink a nice hot chocolate a side of it!

All you need for this recipe is:

-  Koopmans Apple Crumble Mix ( this is for the dough, if you don't have this in your country, feel free to search on google for Apple Crumble Pie dough mix with ingredients which are available in your country.

- 1 egg
- 50 grams of sugar
- Cinnamon as much as you prefer
- 5 apples
- 50 grams of butter
- Whipped cream if you like it on top of your pie

The things you have to do are mixing the butter and the apple crumble mix, you want to dough to be crumbly. Afterwards, you peel all the apples and slice them into small pieces.

When they are all sliced up, you throw them in a bowl and you add the cinnamon and the sugar. While you are slicing the apples, make sure you put the dough in the fridge for at least ten minutes. When the dough is ready, put it in a pie vorm. Cover the bottom with half of the dough and  put all the apples on top of that. With the left over dough, you are covering the apples which is the top of the pie. It has to be in the oven for 45 minutes on 165 degrees in my oven. Every oven has its own settings so my temperature could not be the same for another type of oven.

I snapped some pictures of the whole baking session :):

And TADAAA! A delicious apple crumble pie made by the one and only... Ylli (and her friend ofcourse)!

I hope you all had a nice sunday!

The time has flown by so fast..

Hey there,

I know I said in a previous blogpost that I would write some more blogposts. Well, that failed obviously. It may sound weird but it feels like I didn't attend the months April - July. I think it's because I did so many things in those months and I had to make a lot of decisions. The time has really flown by and it just feels like I  blinked a couple of times. I won't make promises right now that I will put more posts online but I will try to!

Much love,

My Favorite TV Series

First I want to say that I'm sorry that I didn't do a blogpost for a while. I was very busy and I had to sort some things out. But now I'm back with an exciting post: My Favorite Tv Series!

I have to admit that I don't watch soaps or series on the television anymore. I watch everything online nowadays and it's very relaxing that you can watch those shows when you want to watch it.

Here are some of favorite Tv series right now:

The Vampire Diaries:

This serie is obviously about vampires. It's about Elena Gilbert who lives in Mystic Falls and her life gets a huge twist. I don't want to say too much about this serie because I don't want to spoil anything for you. But I definitely recommend this. It's  amazing but very addicting too. A huge plus is that this serie has a lot of cute actors, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley for example. I also like that there's a lot of history and that there's a long story behind every character.

Gossip Girl

This show is finished now and I watched every single episode. It's about rich families in the Upper East Side in New York. It's about love stories and friendships but the most important one: Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl is someone who does mean things and spreads rumours about the persons who you see in the series. The whole series is about finding out who Gossip Girl is.

Blair and Serena

Pretty Little Liars:

This show is about five friends. One friend went missing, Alison. The other four friends are trying to figure out where she is but while they're doing that someone knows exactly what they're doing all the time. They get messages from someone named A. The whole serie is about who's A and where Alison is.

That was about it right now. If you have some recommendations for me then let me know! I love to watch new series!

How to: Spend Valentine's Day Alone?!

Valentine's Day is just February 14th. If you're single it's just an opportunity to be your free self and just enjoy your day. Don't see it as a day where you're alone. You could invite your friends over or you could just spend your day watching you favorite TV-series. Don't be sad if you don't have a Valentine, it's just not the right time for you. Maybe love will find you soon or maybe at the end of the year. Always be an open person because maybe 'love' will stand right in front of you. I've found some beautiful quotes and I wanted to share it with you:

' If two people are meant to be together, eventually they'll find their way back.' - Chuck Bass

This quote is actually a quote from the TV-serie: Gossip Girl. I watched all the episodes and I definitely recommend this! It's about the glamour side of New York and some beautiful and realistic love stories. Give it a try!

' If things don't work out the way you had hoped, hold your head up and be proud that you gave it your best shot. Then try again.' - Unknown

' One day, someone will walk into your life and make you see why it never worked out with anyone else. ' - Unknown.

Realise you're a strong person and  let the world see who you really are. Just remember this:

" Why compare yourself to others? No one in the entire world can do a better job of being you than YOU"

Try to be yourself and try to LOVE yourself. If you learn to love yourself you will allow that people love you too.

Here's a short recipe to treat yourself on Valentine's Day: CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES

You need:
- 8 strawberries
- 1 bar of chocolate ( I prefer milk chocolate but you could go with white or dark chocolate too )
- Sparkles ( This is optional )

Put your strawberries on a plate and leave them there. Grab your bar of chocolate and break it into little pieces. Take a saucepan and fill it a couple inches with water. Bring the water to a simmer over medium heat, then grab bowl and put in on the saucepan. Put your chocolate in the bowl and stir it untill it's smooth. When the chocolate is a liquid 'heaven', remove from the heat. Then carefully dip the strawberries in the chocolate ( not the whole strawberrie more like half of it ) BE CAREFUL IT'S HOT LIQUID HEAVEN! When you did that, put the chocolate covered strawberries on a plate. You could sprinkle some glitters over this delicious snack but that's up to you.

That's it! You made your own chocolate covered strawberries! Lit some candles, watch your favorite movie and your day is just amazing!

Watch your favorite TV-show? Let me know!

No I love YOU more ;)

This is going to be a long post so feel free to grab your favorite tea with a lovely beverage. Enjoy! xo

I want to thank Hilde for nominating me for The Liebster Award, it may sounds strange but it means a lot to me that people are really liking my blog.  Everyone knows that when you start blogging it feels like nobody is checking your blog out. I saw that many people do like it and that gives me a huge energy boost! Thank you so much for leaving those sweet comments, it really means a LOT!

So moving on, what is The Liebster Award? It is a way to discover new bloggers who have 200 or less followers on their blog. If you are nominated you have to answer 11 questions. So in my case Hilde nominated me, that means that I have to answer 11 of her questions. When I'm done with the questions I have to nominate 11 other bloggers and they have to answer my 11 questions. It's not very difficult but I really wanted to explain to you guys what The Liebster Award is.

Hildes questions

1. Last book you've read?
The last book that I've read is 'Looking for Alaska' by John Green. I really love this book and I like that it's so different than what I normally read.

2. Favorite city?
My favorite city has to be London! I've so many great memories there that I don't have to think very long about this answer. I love that it's a city with different sides. You can go shopping at Oxford Street but you could also go to Hyde Park to chill out.

3. All time favorite beauty/skincare product?
It has to be my BB cream from Maybeline. It's a very light product and I really like that it doesn't show that you're wearing make-up.

4. Favorite quote?
Honestly I have two favorite quotes:

 - ' An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you in something great. So just focus and keep aiming. '

 - ' Just keep moving forward and don't give a shit about what anybody thinks. Do what you have to do, for you. ' - Johnny Depp.

5. Goals for 2014?
To live a healthier lifestyle, laugh as much as I can and go for things that I really want to achieve in life.

6. What's the weirdest dream you've ever had?
I really can't remember my weirdest dream. I have to say that I LOVE my dreams. One night I'm going to college in the US with amazing friends and a lot of sunshine. The next night I'm going to Hogwarts where I practice my magic skills. UNREAL!

7. How are you feeling right now?
I'm currently feeling very peaceful and avery happy. I'm happy because no matter what happens in my life, I always know that it will lead me to a good place.

8. What would you love to do for a living? Why?
I don't really know what I would love to do for a living. I'm in a stage in my life right now where I'm exploring my self and figuring out what I really want.

9. Would you like to be a big celebrity? Why?
I know a lot of people would say yes. I personally don't know. I think many people think about all the glitter and glamour but everybody knows that you've a tiny bit of privacy.  But I would really love to be an inspiration for people.

10. Sunsets or sunrise?
Both. I just love the beauty of the sun. The peaceful feeling by sunrise when it feels like there's no one else awake. Sunsets either way give you another feeling. For me, it feels like some closure of the day.

11. Best childhood memory?
I think that it was going on vacation with my family in France every summer. We always stayed at those cute little campings and I just had a lot of camping friends. I was very shy when I was little but my dad always took me to my ' neighbors '  and made sure that I met some new people. I'm very grateful for that because those are my best child memories.

Thank you Hilde for all those lovely questions. Here is where you can find Hildes amazing blog:
